Entering the final month of the regular session of the Texas Legislature, among the observations from representative Kyle Kacal of College Station, is that the governor, lieutenant governor, and house speaker are not getting together at least once a week.
Divisions also remain between the House and Senate. As one example, Kacal, who is vice chairman of the House corrections committee, says the Senate is not supporting air conditioning prisons as a way to retain corrections officers.
Speaking on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, Kacal says members within each chamber are working well together.
