Stoneham man who murdered partner sentenced to 30 years

December 14, 2018 by Willy1550

A Grimes County man, who was arrested for murder in 2017, was sentenced to prison this week.

74 year old Robert Buford was arrested in February of 2017 for the murder of a woman with whom he had a relationship. The incident took place in Stoneham, where the two shared a home together.

Sheriff Don Sowell said that night that Buford was intoxicated and confessed to shooting Lester after a verbal disagreement ensued about his level of intoxication. Buford and Lester were in a common-law relationship and had lived at their residence for many years.

Buford was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday afternoon.
