Last Thursday was declared summer learning day here in Navasota, but not until Mayor Bert Miller read a proclamation at a special City Council session last Friday, honoring the Navasota Library among others.
And it’s still not too late to get some summer learning in by joining the library’s Summer Reading Program.
The Library’s Gloria May says, the amount of books that need to be read depend on your youngsters age. But each kids who complete the program, she explains, get a free book and a gift card to one of the local burger joints like Sonic and Dairy Queen.
The library has already been hosting weekly events for the past few Mondays, May continues, to hopefully entice you and your kids to join them for some fun out of the sun with singers, reptiles and readings.
The Navasota Library Summer Reading Program ends a week Friday July 29th, she continues, but there’s still time for your kid to join scores of others and catch the reading bug. For more, call 936-825-6744.
