Suspect Pulls Gun During Traffic Stop Leads to High-Speed Pursuit and Arrest

A high-speed pursuit through Grimes County ended with an arrest in Madison County.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, the Grimes County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office reported a suspect had pulled a gun during a traffic stop. Grimes County Sheriff, Don Sowell said a traffic stop was initiated on FM 1696 just before FM 39.

The Deputy Constable shot out the left front tire of the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect fled on FM 39 into Madison County and eventually crashed near 8976 FM 39. The suspect then fled on foot.

32-year-old Nathan Boggs was arrested and booked into the Grimes County jail and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer with a Deadly Weapon and Fleeing in a Vehicle, both are felony offenses.

Boggs remains in the Grimes County jail and may face additional charges.
