Despite local opposition, the company that wants to build a high speed rail-line through the County of Grimes, isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
In fact, Texas Central CEO Tim Keith tells Navasota News his company not only plans on investing one billion dollars just here in Grimes, but also building a third station here, which will be the only stop between Houston and the Dallas Metroplex.
Keith predicts this northeast Grimes station will be part of a new 36 billion dollar base of employment and land development from the company’s initial 12 billion dollar investment.
And the entire investment is, and will always be Texas Central’s, the CEO promises. None of it will ever come from either federal grants, or public subsidies.
The environmental impact study is still ongoing, he continues, and will dictate precisely where the Grimes County Station will be built. But Keith hopes to have that pinned down before the end of the year.
And whenever it is, of course, you’ll hear about it right here on Navasota News. Both at 1550 on your am dial, and streaming at www.navasotanews.com
