Temple Community Theater Group Missing $450,000

August 2, 2014 by Archive

TEMPLE, Texas (AP) — Police in Temple are investigating the disappearance of more than $450,000 from the Temple Civic Theatre over the past six years.

Theater board president Jody Donaldson tells the Temple Daily Telegram (http://bit.ly/1rZtRIG ) the community theater board’s members first noticed the discrepancy in the spring when their checking account plummeted $25,000 in a single month.

No charges have been filed and Donaldson says an FBI forensic accounting team in San Antonio is helping with the investigation that could take up to a year.

Donaldson says while procedures called for two signatures on any checks, board members and officers changed every year while a former business manager was the only person with online access to the account. He says some debit card cash withdrawals were made at an Oklahoma casino.
