The Texas A&M system board of regents has scheduled a conference call for Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 to officially name the next president of the flagship campus.
The regents are expected to vote following an executive session to give the chancellor permission to negotiate and execute a contract with Katherine Banks. The current dean of A&M’s college of engineering will also continue as the system’s vice chancellor of national laboratories and national security strategic initiatives.
Wednesday’s meeting is a week later than the state mandated 21 day waiting period. A system spokesman says that was the earliest the board could get together.
