A few new Legislative Bills introduced could have harming potential to the Texas High Speed Rail project that would run through Grimes County.
In a weekly update given by Texas Central, the company in charge of the high speed rail, they say they are “watching a few bills carefully,” on the legislative session side of things. The bills filed are HB 1234, HB 1055, HB 709, HB 1242 and HB 1235.
HB 1234 and HB709 relates to use of private activity bonds to finance the rail, HB1005 refers to the elevation of tracks incounties, HB 1242 relates to imminent domain and HB 1235 relates to permits for the rail. Legislation will begin being voted on February 7th.
As of Monday the 4th, Texas Central has also picked their new environmental partner, tabbing Resource Environmental Solutions (RES) as the project’s provider of ecological mitigation services to help protect and enhance natural ecosystems and the environment throughout construction and operations.
Also mentioned in Texas Central’s update was the new addition of a video series, Train Talk, on their website. If you would like more information, you can visit www.texascentral.com.
