Texas Mother Sets Guinness Breast Milk Record

August 5, 2014 by Archive

DENTON, Texas (AP) _ A North Texas mother has shattered a world record by donating roughly 414 gallons of breast milk.

Guinness World Records announced Monday that Alyse Ogletree of Denton set the record.

KXAS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1s77bq4 ) that Ogletree donated more than 53,000 ounces in March. That’s more than three times the previous record.

All of her milk went to the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas.

Ogletree says she first realized she over-produced milk about four years ago after she gave birth. She says she averaged about 130 ounces a day.

The previous record holder is Amelia Boomker of Illinois. She gave more than 16,000 ounces to an Indiana donation center.
