Following a long and valiant battle with cancer, Grimes County has lost yet another public servant, with the passing of Precinct 1 Commissioner J.R. Green Monday morning June 22nd at Vitas Innovation Hospice in the Woodlands.
Bedias Mayor Mackie Bobo remembers Green as a fine man and a passionate commissioner who always fought to make Grimes a better place for his constituents.
Fellow Commissioner Barbra Walker tells Navasota News, Green was a dedicated man who advocated for local first responders.
Walker describes him as, selfless and an outside-the-box thinker, who encouraged all around him.
And even though his absence will be felt in Commissioners Court, she continues, he would want them to continue in the work he left behind. And until an appropriate replacement is found, she promises the court will do the best it can to continue in that spirit.
A memorial service for Precinct 1 Commissioner J.R. Green will be held at 11 Friday (06/26) morning in the Bedias Baptist Church Gymnasium.
