Theft charges filed against Iola man stemming from February incident where he pawned a stolen helmet

June 7, 2022 by Andre Perrard

An Iola man who pawned off a woman’s motorcycle helmet is back in jail for the 7th time in two years, facing charges of theft.

The original incident happened on Valentine’s Day, when the victims reported her blue Icon helmet was missing, which was valued around $225 dollars.

About 30 minutes later while calling pawn shops, one said the item had been sold to them. Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, police confirmed 25 year old Kyle Daniel Pelka of Iola to be the suspect.

Pelka was booked into the Brazos County jail on Sunday, facing charges of Theft. It is Pelka’s 10th time in jail since 2017.

He was released after posting a $2,000 bond.
