Four people were arrested after stealing over $700 of baby formula from a Navasota grocery store last week.
Navasota Police responded on October 26th to Brookshire Brothers on La Salle for the theft report, where the four allegedly took multiple tubs of the formula from the store.
The suspects were stopped a short time later travelling down Highway 6 near FM 159. Inside the car was 39 year old Dominica Tomescu, 19 year old Stefan Mihalache, and three juveniles, all from Houston. One of the juveniles had 27 tubs of the baby formula in a modified pouch under their clothing, according the report. Oher tubs, suspected to be from a separate theft, were also recovered.
Mihalache and Tomescu were arrested, and charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity – Retail Theft. Two of the juveniles were charged with the same offense. Both Mihalache and Tomescue remain in Grimes County Jail and are also being held on an I.C.E. warrant, with no bond set.
All three juveniles were released to Child Protective Services.
Navasota PD say the group has committed theft in several other counties, and additional charges are pending.
