Thomas Maynard tabbed as new Grimes County Treasurer

February 4, 2021 by Willy1550

Grimes County has its newest treasurer.

Following the passing of Jim-Bob Trant last month, the county commissioner’s began the interview process for his replacement.  County Judge Joe Fauth says those took place last week.

“We had five people apply for the job. By the time we got to the interview process, three people had withdrawn their applications for the position. As a result, we interviewed Stacy Male, and Thomas Maynard,” said Fauth.

He said no decision was made during their closed sessions, as they just discussed the candidate’s interviews.

Commissioner David Dobyanski shared his thanks to those who applied, and made the motion.

“I move that we appoint Thomas Maynard to the position,” said Dobyanski.

The Commissioner’s unanimously approved Thomas Maynard to be the Grimes County treasurer, and fill the remaining term left by Jim-Bob Trant.

Maynard will be sworn into the position on Thursday afternoon.
