On Friday the 12th at 5:12pm, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a property owner who was out of town, but his security camera was showing three suspects on his property. Lee County Deputies arrived to find 3 suspects on an ATV taken from the property. The suspects displayed a weapon and shots were fired and the suspects fled the scene in a red passenger car.
After a short pursuit, the car came to a stop with a flat front tire. The driver and one passenger fled the scene as the other passenger was apprehended. A perimeter was established and the other two suspects were apprehended.
Several homes in the area were found to have been burglarized. A firearm that was seized was found to be stolen out of Washington County. The suspects, all of whom are from Navasota, were identified as: Gregory Chatman II (28), Desnick Chatman (25) and Lucius Byrd (19). The Lee County Sheriff’s office is working with the Washington County Sheriff’s office and the investigation is ongoing.
The suspects are facing charges of engaging in organized criminal activity, burglary of a building, evading in a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and burglary of a habitation. Additional charges may be made as the investigation continues.
