Three-Vehicle Crash In Grimes County Ends In Fatality

According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Troopers are investigating a three-vehicle fatality crash on state Highway 105 and County Road 417 in Grimes County.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that on Apr. 1, 2024, at approximately 9:02 a.m., a 2001 Kenworth 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound. A 2016 Nissan Rouge and a 2024 Hyundai Palisade were both traveling westbound, when the Nissan crossed the center line, began traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, struck the Kenworth head-on, and was hit again by the Hyundai.

The driver of the Nissan, Qinglei Li, 53, of College Station, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin.

The driver of the Kenworth was transported to CHI St. Joesph Hospital – College Station with suspected minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai was transported to CHI St. Joesph Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information available for release at this time.
