Residents on County Road 424 in Navasota are going to finally get a paved roadway.
Road and Bridge Engineer Harry Walker presented to Commissioners this week a three way agreement between the County, City of Navasota, and Jim Hassell of J & H Development LLC for improving the roadway.
“The roadway has suffered badly in t he construction phase of Pecan Lakes Section Four. The basis of the agreement is that [Mr. Hassell] will build a 25-foot wide concrete road, with curb, gutter, and drainage. The city is waiving their jurisdiction over development standards, like sidewalks and such, are not being required,” said Walker. “The County, we are waiving the 60-foot right-of-way criteria, we will be working in the existing right-of-way.”
Walker says drainage has been an issue over there for a long time, and this project helps that, plus the area in general.
“The road, being on the far side of Navasota, honestly does not get the attention of other roads. Mostly, because the county does not have much they are responsible for over there. I think this will be beneficial for everyone,” said Walker. “We did provide a one year time frame in the agreement, and we hope most of it will be done this summer.”
The agreement for fixing up the road was approved.
Navasota City Council also approved the agreement at their Monday night meeting.
