Todd Mission Police Chief Passes

February 3, 2018 by Willy1550

The body of the Texas Renaissance Festival’s top cop was discovered late last month on the floor of the Todd Mission City Hall by Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies and members of St. Joseph EMS.

Grimes County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Daniel Wagnon says that, upon arrival, officers found Todd Mission Police Chief Johnnie Martinez to be deceased.  Upon a thorough investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, he continues, it was determined there was no foul play or suspicious circumstances surrounding Chief Martinez’ death.

Grimes County Constables Blake Jarvis and Wes Male and Deputy Constable Mike Bewley were assisted at the scene by several DPS troopers, officers of Todd Mission PD and members of the Plantersville-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department.

With the young Martinez’ untimely demise, Wagnon tells Navasota news, that the county has lost a beloved, long-time law enforcement asset and his unforgettable smile.

A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of 53-year-old Johnny Martinez, Jr of Pinehurst was officiated by Msgr. John McCaffrey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan on January 31st, with interment following in the Bryan City Cemetery.
