Expired registration traffic stop at Grimes County line sends Houston man to jail on drug charges

May 3, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A car stopped near the Grimes County line for lack of registration ends with a passengers arrest on a few drug charges.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Arrest report says that happened on Friday afternoon, when the car was stopped for no turn signal on the Highway 6 feeder at FM 159.

Three people were in the car, and after a consent was given to search the vehicle, officers found a pill bottle of Xanax near the passenger, 50 year old John Dysart of Houston. He told officers the pills belonged to another elderly passenger, but officer soon learned that was a lie.

Also found on Dysart’s person was a join. When asked what was inside, Dysart said “we all know what it is” with a saddened face.

Dysart was taken to jail, and faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG3, and Possession of Marijuana. At last check, he remains in jail in lieu of an $8,000 bond.
