Traffic stop near FM 2 in Grimes County leads to seizure of over six ounces of methamphetamine

A College Station man is in the Grimes County jail after being found with over 6 ounces of methamphetamine.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the K9 Unit of the office made a traffic stop on Saturday March 27th, on Highway 6 just south of FM 2.

Sergeant Steven Siracusa made contact with the driver, who appeared nervous. The driver denied search of the vehicle, so the K9 named “Tweaker” was deployed, and indicated, giving probable cause to search the vehicle. . That investigation revealed a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, which led to the drivers immediate arrest.

He was identified as 58 year old John Edward Russup of College Station.

The suspected methamphetamine was taken to the Sheriff’s Office to be processed, and had a net weight of approximately 174 grams, or just over 6 ounces.

Russup was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1, which is a second degree felony.

At last check, he remains in the Grimes County jail.
