A car stopped for expired temporary registration near Grimes County winds up with the arrest of a Bryan woman on numerous charges.
The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office arrest report says they stopped that car after it turned onto Highway 6 South from FM 159.
The officer smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle, and made contact with the driver. The officer was noted the driver was a known member of the Crips gang.
All occupants were asked to exit the vehicle, and a search of the car yielded marijuana, plus ecstasy pills. Also inside the car were multiple weapons, which included a Ruger 380, an AR 15 with a shortened barrel, and a Taurus 9 mm handgun. Over 100 rounds of ammo were found, ranging from 5.56 NATO, to 380 auto, to 9 mm.
One of the passengers, 31 year old Dawnyel King of Bryan, admitted she gave false information, and admitted the vehicle was hers.
King was taken to jail, and faces a litany of charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2, Prohibited Weapons, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Failure to Identify. She also had numerous warrants out of Bryan.
King remains in jail on bonds which total $26,000.
