Tragedy visited the northern Grimes County Community of Iola Monday, when a married couple was found dead in their home, in an apparent murder-suicide.
Sheriff’s Captain Blake Jarvis says they were called to check on the couple, because neither neighbors nor family had reportedly heard from them since last Friday.
Jarvis tells Navasota News, the responding officers saw a deceased man sitting in a chair and a deceased woman lying on the floor. They were identified as 55-year-old Noemi Pullantes Chandler and 64-year-old Dan William Chandler.
Jarvis says, both bodies were sent to the Montgomery County forensic center in Conroe, where preliminary autopsy reports confirm that William Chandler died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound while Noemi Chandler died after being shot once in the lower back.
Also during the investigation, Jarvis says they learned of on-going marital problems between the Chandlers, which he suspects could have been a contributing factor.
So, Jarvis concludes, as of now there is no indication that any others were involved.
