Two young Bryan College Station men are still residing in the Grimes County Jail today, after spending thanksgiving there, due to a lucky break a local lawman caught last week while patrolling near Keith.
Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Wagnon tells Navasota News he chanced upon a truck matching the description of one involved in several thefts. It was towing a four-wheeler and driven by 27-year-old Cory Middleton with 25-year-old Justin Doty riding shotgun.
Wagnon says, after the two saw him one jumped out and unhitched the trailer and tried to speed away and the chase was on. But in trying to drive off he continues, Middleton only managed to get stuck in a nearby pasture. The two men then ditched the truck and split up.
After they were taken into custody, Deputy Wagnon reports investigators found a substance suspected to be methamphetamines in the truck. It’s been sent to a lab for testing.
In addition to other charges, both Doty and Middleton are charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. And if convicted of the first-degree felony, they could spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
