Grimes County Sheriff’s Office deputies took part in assisting Texas DPS in a car chase in Bryan Tuesday morning, which reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour before the car crashed into a fire hydrant and a street sign.
After the driver and passenger ran away, troopers found seven stolen catalytic converters and two battery operated saws. The DPS arrest report also stated multiple schools were shut down until the men, who were armed, were found about six hours later.
That followed a ground and air search involving DPS troopers from four counties and seven other agencies, including ones from Grimes, Madison, and Robertson Counties.
The driver, from Houston, is jailed in lieu of bonds totaling 225 thousand dollars and is being held on a charge in Illinois of unlawful possession of stolen vehicle parts. The passenger, also from Houston, is held in lieu of bonds totaling 150 thousand dollars.
