Two Fires in College Station Monday

August 25, 2014 by Archive

College Station firefighters responded to a pair of structure fires Monday afternoon.

No injuries were mentioned in the fire department’s news release.

The first call was to Shipley Do-Nuts on Southwest Parkway. Investigators determined the fire originated in the building’s heating and air conditioning system. The first unit arrived at 1:21 p.m. and the fire was under control at 1:45.

The second call came shortly after 3:30 to the Varsity II apartments at George Bush and Wellborn. Investigators believe the cause was a torch being used for plumbing purposes. Seven residents were displaced.
