The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers are investigating the apparent fatal shooting of a man at 6081 Clark Road that occurred just after midnight on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 27th, a group of family and friends were celebrating a birthday party at the above listed address near Plantersville. An argument ensued that escalated to violence when a gun was drawn and two people were shot. One male died on scene while a female was transported to the hospital. The suspect in custody at the Grimes County Jail has been identified as Justin Alexander Sanchez, Hispanic male approximately 21 years of age out of Houston, Texas. Investigators are reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
The deceased male, 29, was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy. The 21 year old female was transported to the St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas with life threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.
