A two vehicle crash on Highway 30 last week, just outside Roans Prairie, resulted in one fatality.
According to a press release from Texas DPS, that crash happened Thursday, October 29th, about 4 miles east of the town in Grimes County. The preliminary report says at 11:50 am on the 29th, a 2004 Suzuki Verona was travelling eastbound on Highway 30 behind a 2007 GMC C6500. The Suzuki attempted to pass unsafely, as the GMC was making a left turn, overcorrected, and hit a tree.
There were 4 passengers in the Suzuki.
The driver, identified as 58 year old Scotty Lee Logue of Conroe, was transported to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan in stable condition. IN the passenger seat was 17 year old Anthony Bridges of Conroe, who was transported to Scott and White in College Station in stable condition.
The first rear passenger in that car was a 2 year old female from Richards, who was transported in stable condition to Scott and White. The other rear passenger was pronounced deceased on the scene, and identified as 41 year old Melissa Joyce McCarty of Conroe.
The driver of the GMC, 44 year old Jose Reyes of Madisonville, was not injured.
An investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released.
