The Texas Department of Transportation recently showed-off the fix it’s come up with for the trecherous intersection of FM-2 and State Highway 6 in Navasota. and TxDOT’s Bobby Colwell says everyone seemed to like what they’ve come up with.
FM-2 will stay at the same grade, then State Highway 6 will be depressed and go under FM-2. As everyone knows, sight distance has been a problem there, so TxDOT’s doing all it can to improve it.
First, Colwell tells Navasota News, they’ll need to purchase nine and a half acres of right of way, after which it’ll take a year and a half to construct for a little more than 11 and a half million dollars.
And while they already have currently, money for the right of way, the plan-set, the utility movements, Colwell says, they just don’t have any construction dollars. And they’re hoping the project gets moved up, because 20-22 is just when they’re scheduled to start getting bids from contractors, which puts the eventual completion date to sometime in the middle of the next decade.
He says they got a lot of useful information from the public during their open house, which they’ll use to set up a public meeting in the future.
We’ll let you know just as soon as that public hearing is set up. In the meantime, if you missed the open house you can still see the plans for yourself under projects at txdot dot g-o-v. or give TxDOT a call yourself at 979-778-9764.
