The City of Navasota is a century and a half old this year, so city staff is looking to residents for their historical memorabilia from days gone by, to be put on display during this October’s 150th birthday celebration.
The City’s Sarah Korpita tells Navasota News she hopes to collect, pictures, items and some stories from when the city was young; be it from old newspaper clippings or even from the horse’s mouth, as she and students from Navasota High School will also record the oral history retold by you and use them in interactive displays.
Korpita urges anyone who happens to have an interesting artifact of local history to come forward. She says staff members have been unraveling unique stories as they speak with different groups around town, and they welcome any more you might have.
Korpita says the city will be collecting stories, pictures and items for the next six months and hopes your personal history will help them discover something not only you can be personally proud of, but something that left a mark on the Texas Blues Capital, as well.
