Sheriff and Commissioner 4 Survive Primary

March 4, 2016 by Willy1550

The voters of Grimes County have spoken, and, as Democratic Chair James Harris and Republican Chair Joe Fauth posted outside the County Clerk’s Office in Anderson last Tuesday, March 1st, Sheriff Don Sowell survived his primary challenger, Shawn Sayers.

By a nearly 3-1 margin, voters also supported Judge Ben Leman’s appointment of Gary Husfeld to fill the late Pam Finke’s unexpired Precinct 4 Commissionership, against his GOP challenger Al Ripper.

But while still getting a plurality of votes, Leman’s other Appointee, Chad Mallett, must now face J.R. Green’s Widow, Janet, in a runoff this may for Precinct One Commissioner.

And Commissioner Barbara Walker won the Democratic Vote Tuesday to face Republican winner Dorothy Holtkamp in a General Election battle this November for the Precinct 3 Commissionership.
