Besides being the Ides of March, Tuesday March 15th was also the day when the work of American Ag-producers, in and out of the County of Grimes, is celebrated: National Agriculture Day.
It’s a show of the USDA’s continued support of farmers and ranchers, says the Texas Branch’s Judith Canales. And in the past few years, Ag Businesses just here in Grimes have received about $4 million in assistance through its programs
And that, she continues, is only the money allocated from its crop and livestock loss insurance programs.
Canales tells Navasota News the USDA continues to see growth here in Grimes’ Ag-sector and wants to help out anyone ready and willing to take up the tools of a producer.
Through the farm bill, the USDA can issue micro-loans to help aspiring farmers and ranchers get land and equipment, she explains, quickly adding that you do need to make a business plan beforehand.
