A short pursuit that started near Anderson early Thursday ended with two Grimes County deputies being injured.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office says one of their two man units tried a traffic stop on Johnson Street around 1 am, when the truck refused to stop. A short chase ensued around the city limits of Anderson, until both the truck and patrol car crashed when they hit a curve in the road.

Both officers, Deputy Dan Caswell and Deputy Mike Ryan, suffered serious injuries, and were airlifted to St. Joseph in Bryan. Deputy Caswell has since been released from the hospital. Deputy Ryan was in surgery Thursday afternoon, but the last update from the Sheriff’s Office stated he was in stable condition.

The suspect fled on foot for a couple hours, but was captured around 6 am on County Road 185. He was identified as 19 year old Cole Miller Reynolds.

No further information has been released.
