Walker County Courthouse has Confederate monument vandalized

June 11, 2020 by Willy1550

The Walker County Courthouse has cleaned up one of its landmarks, a Confederate monument, after it was vandalized on Tuesday night.

The Huntsville Item was first to report that the statue was defaced with black spray paint by a small group of demonstrators. The spray paint was removed later that same day.

The monument has a Confederate flag on top, with the words “in memory of our confederate patriots 1861-1865,” inscribed in it.

The vandalism is under investigation by authorities.
