A wanted Grimes County man on the run for several months was arrested on Saturday.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division received information on the whereabouts of 35 year old Steven Benefield, who had two warrants out of the county.

Authorities located Benefield in the Shiro community and took him into custody following a brief foot chase.
Benefield was charged with Bail Jumping and having his bond revoked for evading arrest in a vehicle.

Wesley Benefield, Steven’s father, was also placed in custody on scene for hindering apprehension and prosecution of a known felon.

Benefield was arrested in January 2019 after leading Grimes County deputies on a high speed chase and ensuing crash that resulted in the injury of an officer.
