Washington Avenue crosswalk project in Navasota progressing ‘behind the scenes’

January 5, 2021 by Willy1550

Approved some time ago was the new Crosswalks project for Washington Avenue, giving pedestrians a safer way to cross Washington among the shops downtown.

But, nothing physically has been done there. So, what is up with that project?

City Manager Brad Stafford said recently that he spoke with the project engineer last week.

“He has been having to do some extra leg work for TXDOT, they asked for more drawings and more information from our engineer on that. But, he felt that after first of the year, he would have everything completed that they had requested,” said Stafford.

He said that he hopes the project can get into the construction bid phase in the coming couple of weeks.

“I do not have any definite dates, or times. It feels like to a lot of people that nothing is happening, but it really is, it is just all behind the scenes. There is always a lot of design work that has to go into that,” Stafford said.

If you have any questions, contact the city at 936-825-6475.
