An addition of 40 new cases in the weekly COVID-19 update push the total closer to the 1,000 threshold for Grimes County.
In the release sent out on Monday afternoon, the county has seen 970 cases since March 2020, which is up 40 from last week. There was another slight spike in active cases as well, jumping up 17 cases, to put the county active cases number at 205. Of those, 95 active are in Navasota.
More recoveries were added, 17 to be exact, to bring the total recovered to 735, with 376 of the recoveries in Navasota.
There was another death added to the running tally, which is now at 24 since March 2020. That death is not necessarily from the last week, and might be from previous months.
A big jump of over 1,000 in test numbers, as now 14,693 test have been performed in the county.
On the Texas Department of Criminal Justice side, active cases at one of the units of the county continue to fall after last week, while another sees no changes. According to the dashboard on the TDCJ website, there are currently 4 active cases at the Pack Unit, all of them being employees. That is down from 10 active cases total last week. At the Luther Unit, there are 28 active cases, up 2 from last week, with 16 of them offenders and 12 of them employees.
