Welfare call from a former Bedias man telling police he was “going to harm himself” ends with arrest

A former Bedias resident is in jail for the 4th time after assaulting his girlfriend.

The College Station Police arrest report says officers responded to the call for a welfare concern from the man himself, 36 year old Jonathan Ray Bowers, formerly of Bedias.

Bowers told authorities he was gong to Highway 6 to harm himself because he had laid hands on his girlfriend. He stated he got upset when she began talking about his son, and admitted to gabbing and choking her against a wall.

He was taken to jail on Charges of Assault Causes Bodily Injury – Family Violence, and remains in jail on bonds which total $18,000.
