Wife of Anderson volunteer firefighter struck by vehicle on Highway 90

December 16, 2019 by Willy1550

A woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in Grimes County after a driver struck her on Highway 90.

The incident occurred at the scene of a crash North of Anderson near Marl Lane. The driver was approaching the scene when they lost control after swerving to avoid hitting stopped cars and struck the woman, who was standing near a gate on private property.

According to the Anderson Volunteer Fire Department, the woman was the wife of one of their volunteer firefighters who responded to the scene in his personal vehicle.

The woman is also credited with shoving a child out of the path of the oncoming vehicle before she was hit. She was taken to the hospital and had a broken leg and minor injuries, but none life threatening.

No word on if the driver of the pickup was arrested or cited.
