It’s truly been a long and winding road since Navasota News began bringing you the news of the County of Grimes nearly 16 years ago.
When we first signed-on, May 8th of 2002, we were the same tiny station that the Wittens first brought to life back in the ’60s. By the way, did you know that the WBC in KWBC stands for Witten Broadcasting Company?
At any rate, everyone loved our service, except for the fact that we couldn’t be heard outside of Navasota. Which we couldn’t. Until, that is, our research discovered our power was limited by an old agreement with Mexico about our 1550 frequency.
That research also discovered that moving our transmitter just a little further away from Mexico . . . say to College Station . . . we could increase our power greatly. Which, at great expense, we did, increasing our coverage from roughly Madisonville to Tomball.
Except, unfortunately, for a shadow falling right over downtown Navasota. So we’ve been battling with the FCC since then for an FM translator that would cover Navasota with our signal on 98.7 FM.
Well, we are happy to announce that we finally have it. So in addition to being able to hear us at 1550 am, in Navasota you can also hear us on 98.7 FM, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Try out Willy 98.7 for yourself. Tell all your friends. Then let us know how you like it. We’re navasota news. In navasota. For good.
