Winter Worries With Ag Extension

December 8, 2014 by Willy1550

The Extension’s Kim Hall has some tips for everybody combating the cold effects in the County Grimes.

Hall says, producers should keep a wary eye on their old and young livestock, and for rain in general as a wet fur coat won’t do any good in the cold.

As for land and homeowners just trying to keep things living for next year, Hall says save yourself some money and hold off on fertilizers, as this will just feed the winter weeds.

She also suggests, forage producers and land owners to look into soil testing as now is a perfect time to start planning for the next growing season and a great way to make sure you lawn stays greener than the other side.

For more on testing or how to defend against winter call the local extension at 936-873-3907.
