Worker killed by 18 wheeler in Madison County

February 13, 2019 by Willy1550

DPS Troopers are investigating an auto-pedestrian accident that killed a worker on Interstate 45 in Madison County this afternoon.

DPS Sargent Jimmy Morgan says the accident happened around noon and involved an 18 wheeler just outside the Madisonville city limits. According to Morgan, the 18 wheeler veered off the road and struck a worker on the shoulder of the highway.

The man killed was identified as 33 year old David Wayne Honea of McKinney. Sargent Morgan says, as spring and summer roll around and construction projects become more numerous, it is important to take heed of the Move Over, Slow Down Law, which requires motorists to move over or slow down when passing flashing emergency lights.

It is not clear what caused the accident and DPS Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash. We will update you as we hear more here on Willy 1550 and 98.7 FM.
