The man who started a multi county car chase in Navasota two weeks ago, and evaded police in College Station, has been apprehended in Madison County.

That arrest happened Tuesday afternoon, when authorities took 33 year old Matthew Jarrett to the Brazos County jail.

The chase happened June 12th, when Jarrett stole an SUV in College Station. He then drove to Bryan, where he picked up a friend he knew from school, and drove to Navasota. That is where the chase began, and trailed back to College Station.

The vehicle eventually stopped on Graham Road, and Jarrett took off while the passenger stayed. He told officers that he wanted to stop the chase and leave the SUV, but Jarrett advised he was “not going back to jail, and threatened to shoot him.

Jarrett was arrested in Madison County on Tuesday, and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Evading Arrest.

He remains in the Brazos County jail on bonds totaling $156,000.
